CPT - Child Protection Team
What does CPT do?
Child Protection Teams are required by law when 50 or more incidents of known or suspected child abuse are reported to the county human services department or local law enforcement in any one year.
What services, if any, does CPT offer?
The CPT reviews the reports and findings by the county child welfare workers to ensure that the investigation was done in a timely and adequate manner. Periodically the CPT offers educational programs related to child welfare. These events are open to the public.
What function does CPT serve?
The CPT is required to report publicly if there are any lapses and inadequacies in the child protection system. The CPT will report when corrections have been made.
When does the CPT meet?
The CPT members meet the 3rd Wednesday of every month, beginning at 8:30 am at the Combined Library. Some meeting locations and dates may change due to availability of the conference room and members. All changes w ill be announced at the prior month's meeting.
Who are the members of CPT?
CPT is made up of members from various local agencies and the community. Membership is diverse consisting of the Crowley County Health Department, childcare providers, early education administrators, mental health counselors, law enforcement, county department employees and foster parents. Currently our membership is full, however when a team member does leave, vacancies are filled by the county director, with approval from the other team members.
